FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Being in-the-know every step of the way makes your home building experience less stressful. At Triple E Homes, we take the time to answer all of your questions.

These questions are commonly asked by those interested in building custom homes in central Pennsylvania.

  • Where in Pennsylvania do you build?

We build and remodel homes across central Pennsylvania, with most of our construction sites located in Centre County and Clinton County. Common towns include but are not limited to State College, Bellefonte, Boalsburg, Lock Haven, and Howard.

  • What sets Triple E Homes apart from other central PA home builders?

At Triple E Homes, we don’t just build homes. We build relationships. Our customers are real people with real dreams and needs. We don’t want to build houses picked out of a plan book. Instead, we want to build families tailor-made homes with their specific interests in mind. Our one-of-a-kind touches include designing interiors with reclaimed wood, building custom cabinets, crafting state-of-the-art home theater additions, or engineering heated floors.

  • How long does it take to build a custom home?

How long it takes to build a custom home is generally dependent on the size of the new build. Once plans for the project are determined, we provide a building schedule from start to finish. Our timeline includes dates by which certain items, such as windows and flooring, should be selected to stay on schedule and avoid stress throughout the building process.

On average, custom homes take six to eight months to build, from start to finish. However, many factors will affect the time it takes to craft your custom home—for example, the size of the home and the amount of fine detailed work expected. There are also outside variables to factor into your timeline, including materials and labor availability, weather, and unexpected plan changes.

  • Do I need to hire an architect or designer before working with you?

No, all you need is an idea. Together we’ll talk about your custom home dreams and develop a game plan. We also work closely with highly-qualified drafters and engineers who would be happy to draw up plans for you. And if you have already hired an architecht or designer, we would work with them from the start of the planning process.

  • What type of homes do you build?

As custom builders, we build any style of home: craftsman, traditional, ranch, modern, and farmhouse style homes. But don’t let specific styles limit you. Your personal home could be a combination of styles or none of the above.

Custom home dreams are only limited by the imagination, and we understand that decisions about details can seem daunting. That’s why we offer many years of experience in construction and detailed craftsmanship to show you options you may not have considered. We can offer advice on popular custom home features that you might like and provide our professional opinion on what styles work with your tastes and property.

  • Is there an average price per square foot on your building projects?

Building custom homes does not lend itself to “one size fits all” pricing because your price per square foot will depend on factors such as flooring type, special architectural features, and other custom amenities. However, we maintain partnerships with the best vendors and subcontractors in the greater Centre County area so that we can build the best home on any budget.

  • What if we want to make changes during the construction process?

Building a new home can be overwhelming because of all the choices and selections that need to be made throughout the process. We see changes to your plans as part of the construction process.

We want you to be 100% happy with your custom-built home, so we invite you to make changes to the initial blueprint package that is included in the main bid as much as needed for no charge (within reason). Changes that need to go through the code office or requires reordering of materials may involve additional fees.

  • Do you offer a home warranty?

Yes, we offer a standard one-year warranty on materials and labor for new construction homes.

  • Do you have site listings, or do you build on the client’s existing property?

Most often we build new homes on property that our customers already own. However, if you are thinking about building a house in Boalsburg, Bellefonte, State College, or surrounding areas, we have relationships with local realtors who would be happy to recommend sites on the market that may be a perfect fit for your dream home.
